E.U.C. - The Prey E.P. (2010)

E.U.C. aka Electric Umbilical Cord are California transplants that have been residing in Brooklyn. They play electronic music and have been for 9 years in some form or another. They can be compared to The Cure, Bauhaus, The Chameleons, Death In June etc. But what they really are, are two of the coolest guys I know in the greater NY area playing the most sincere music they can based upon their influences, interests etc and they KILL IT. I can't think of a better time of year to be able to share this with you. Download this immediately and let this become your new fall soundtrack. Go see them live, buy whatever they have for sale.

The Organ - Grab That Gun (2004)

The Organ were a short lived, almost all female group from Vancouver, BC. They broke up at the peak of their buzz but left a solid record behind. Grab That Gun is heavily influenced by The Smiths...no matter how much they claim it isn't. Super Johnny Marrish guitar leads and rhythms, super Mozish vocals (though sang by a woman). It's all there. It even has kind of a dark 90's feel to it at times. Check it out.

Zola Jesus - Stridulum EP (2010)

Madison, Wisconson's Zola Jesus returns with a six song EP containg more of the same gothic, brooding and haunted pop but this time I feel it's more refined. It's a step in the right direction. Give it a listen, eh

Zola Jesus - The Spoils (2009)

Zola Jesus is Nika Roza Danilova, 20 years old, from Madison, WI. Sparse no-fi drones with hints of industrial rhythms and ethereal vocals. Kinda gothy, pretty good.

BBC Brian Eno - Another Green World

Eno has given Arena unprecedented access to observe him working in his studio and talking with friends and colleagues. The master of reinvention engages with fellow influential minds, including Richard Dawkins, Malcolm Gladwell, David Whittaker and Steve Lillywhite, in a series of conversations on science, art, systems analysis, producing and cybernetics.

Slavescene - Heaven Only Knows Cassette (2009)

I know that this is a pretty old release but I seriously haven't stopped listening to it for almost a year. If you haven't gotten a hold of this yet I implore you to do so. Absolutely fucked-up Drunkdriverish stuff with a bit more structure.

Japp Gutter - Heaven Dollars Cassette (2010)

Japp Gutter are from SF and CHI. One is in Running, a few are in newcomers Pagan Blonde and one works in retail. They got together one afternoon and wrote and recorded these songs that sound like a super noisy repetitive blast out.

Puerto Rico Flowers - 4 12" (2010)

John Sharkey III from Clockclean Er recorded these four tracks that sound like super bass driven new/dark wave jams but according to the Fan Death site they claim that it's "Slow songs not unlike a skinhead crying." You be the judge.
